Back in '05, Miranda Lambert, sorta by accident, ripped off Steve Earle's song I Feel Alright, with her debut single, Kerosene. When I first heard Kerosene, as hot as I thought Miranda was, I was ticked because I thought it sounded way too much like Earle's song. Well, turns out that when it was brought to her attention, she said that she didn't plagiarize it on purpose... she said that I Feel Alright is one of her all-time favorite songs, and she's listened to it so many times, that Kerosene just came out sounding like it. She owned up to it very quickly, and added Earle as a co-writer on the copyright and to the royalties.
I can relate, because I have song that I subconsciously copied Pat Green on... and only my friend Forrest Smith knows which song it is... and unless it gets famous... you'll never know.
